Welcome To Heatherdale Bed & Breakfast

Heatherdale Bed & Breakfast is owned by Alasdair & Rachael MacLeod. Situated on a working croft in Bernisdale, a small crofting township in Skeabost and only a ten minute drive from the island capital, Portree. Being a working croft, they have sheep, cows and hens a collie dog Glen and not forgetting their friendly cat Missy, who spends most of her time trying to escape Glen's attention.

Heatherdale is Alasdair's family home where his mother and father raised five children, his father worked the croft and his mother used the lower part of the house as a B&B whilst the family resided upstairs. Rachael  is from a district called Gippsland in Victoria, Australia. It was at a chance meeting with a couple from  Glasgow at a BBQ in Brisbane that led her to Skye. On their recommendation Rachael, whilst touring Scotland,  came to visit Skye and stayed! Not only did she fall in love with the beautiful scenery but also with Alasdair.  So after 8 weeks of being on Skye, this was now her home. Heatherdale is named after Alasdair's mother's original family home in nearby Heatherfield, Braes.

Rachael and Alasdair kept the name and a few years ago after rennovating the house, they too opened up their home as a bed and breakfast. They live downstairs with their children and the guest accommodation is upstairs. With ample parking, the guests have a separate entrance and can enjoy large modern ensuite rooms, decorated with style and homely touches (look out for Rachael's handmade items). The quiet of the upstairs offers you fine views, looking out the back over the croft you see directly onto the back of the Old Man Of Storr and out the front onto the lovley garden with the Cullins in the distance off to the left. You will enjoy the comfort of a private sitting room to rest after a busy day exploring the island or a catch up on any favourite programs on the large television. Perfect for couples and Ideal for parties of 4 who would enjoy the entire upstairs of Heatherdale to themselves.

It's a working croft and there is always something happening around the place, maybe even a baby lamb for you to bottle feed if you fancy?
